Future Possibilities Index

Future Possibilities Index
The Future Possibilities Index is an innovative global index designed to assess the potential future opportunities brought by global transformations. It evaluates how well-prepared countries are to leverage these opportunities for future development across key sectors. Based on scientific data, the index serves as a global reference for guiding investment decisions by companies, governments, and policymakers, in helping to prioritize future opportunities along long-term strategies.
The index is built upon annual research conducted by Newsweek Vantage and Horizon Group (a Swiss research group), based on surveys of over 5,000 executives and research on 70 countries representing more than 90% of the global GDP. It measures each country's ability to capitalize on six major transformational trends in the global economy, including the Exabyte Economy (advanced digital technologies), Wellbeing Economy (health prevention and wellness), Net Zero Economy (reduction of carbon emissions), Circular Economy (recycling and reuse), BioGrowth Economy (food and agriculture innovations) and Experience Economy, considering the three key factors of government strategy, industry strength and core capabilities.
Objectives:
- Provide a global reference to help governments and decision-makers understand future trends and opportunities for the next decade.
- Assess the size of future opportunities brought by global transformations and countries' readiness to use them for key sector development.
- Create a framework for analyzing long-term investment priorities to promote human and sustainable development globally.
